Forty years ago, this would have been a Doris Day-Rock Hudson vehicle, but Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey lack that pair's flair for taking stale material and whipping it into something memorable instead of just, well, stale and whipped. This is the kind of froth that gives froth a bad name.
